The idea of “See-saw-scene” comes from combining the seesaw from our childhood with familiar sounds. Mr. Wyan Yeung Li-shung, a Hong Kong architect, and Mr. Allan Au, a new media artist, created this interactive seating installation, to explore the balance of the city using body movement. It is an installation project involving the creation from the society which allows the public to explore the concept of balance through two human senses: auditory sense and somatosensory sense. To use this seat, a user must find a partner to sit on the opposing side or they will lose their balance. The swinging movement of the seat will trigger the urban sounds and enable the users to experience a scene from life. The creators are going to invite the public to contribute as the musical “artists” for the piece and record sounds from their surroundings which will be played in the built-in interactive sound system under the seat.
