The Case of Ciudad Bolivar, Transmicable Urban Intervention and SuperCADE Manitas in Bogotá, Colombia.

The informal, self built, bottom-up and unplanned city vs a planned, top to bottom intervention. (the Transmicable integral project)

The fine grain / smaller scale city vs the larger scale urban spaces generated by the Transmicable intervention.

The chaotic, narrow and tight network of streets that lie below vs the wide view and peaceful ride that the Cable Car offers.

Looking upwards from the city to the sky vs looking downwards over the city from the cable car.

The installation aims to show the complexity generated by the overlapping of two different worlds: the existing urban settlement of Ciudad Bolívar and the recent Transmicable Integral intervention.

The external envelope evocates the traditional neighbourhood, with its brick texture, varied topography and chaotic mix of materials, people and backgrounds.  Their stories are expressed through a video documentary and a series of stereoscopic image viewers that are randomly laid onto the outer brick shell.

The inside creates a completely different environment: Smooth, peaceful and orderly, The internal space shows the series of projects that have been developed within the existing city grain at the foot of the new cable car infrastructure. Complementing this information, a video wall immerses the visitor in the experience of travelling by cable car, hovering comfortably over the existing city grid.
