  • THE MILLS

Hong Kong is famous for its ultra-high density urban development which resulted in a unique living cityscape in the world. Urban space has been utilized to its finest gap in-between. The organic growing nature within in-between space is the subject of the installation proposal.

Bench as the experiment object

The proposed installation is an abstract analogy for exploring alternatives of the in-between space. The installation is an intervention of furniture made of salvaged timber door found in the exhibition site which shows the trace of time of the physical space.

 Interweave with Light

The benches will be gradually interwoven with a series of light sculpture during the exhibition period with organic shape in contrast to the regular rectilinear shape of the benches. The additional piece of sculpture makes the originally invisible in-between space visible, with an imaginative form of natural landscape.

Interaction with observers

The installation could be observed from distance, or in a more immersive way as they are still functioning as a bench to bring people together. From a far, it is a sculpture with abstract quality.
